Landau and Lifshitz

The Course of Theoretical Physics series by Landau and Lifshitz is series of texts that span much of physics. They are considered by many to be the best texts at their level.

Several books of Landau and Lifshitz, Second Edition, at The Internet Archive.

There’s also an easier and shorter version of the series in two volumes. The first volume is: Landau, Akhiezer and Lifshitz, General Physics (At the Internet Archive)

Physics for mathematicians

There’s an entire genre of physics books that are written for (and by) mathematicians. I list these in their own section. Some of these aren’t actually explicitly for mathematicians but lean in that direction.

There are math books written for physicists. See also: Engineering mathematics

Engineering mathematics

The topics are pretty similar to those seen in many “math for physics” textbooks.
